Michael Cuisance has denied that there was a problem with his medical before his transfer to Leeds United collapsed.

Cuisance was a major target for Leeds during the transfer window as Marcelo Bielsa looked to strengthen his midfield. It had been thought that he would complete an £18m move.

The Frenchman even underwent a medical ahead of a proposed move from Bayern Munich, but the deal eventually fell through.

At the time, a foot injury was blamed, leaving Bielsa disappointed that he would not be able to use Cuisance. He went on to join Marseille on loan instead, having already snubbed interest from another Premier League club.

Now, though, Cuisance has denied that he had a problem ahead of the potential switch to Elland Road.

“There was no problem with the medical examination,” he said at a press conference. “I had one in Marseille and it went very well.

“There was no problem on my side. Afterwards, I don’t know more. Here I had it and I’m in good shape.”

Cantwell links examined

Meanwhile, former Leeds player Noel Whelan has suggested that Todd Cantwell’s agent and not the club is the driving force behind a possible move to Leeds.

The EFL window does not close until October 16, and Leeds could still pounce amid reports that they have already offered £15m for the England Under-21 schemer.

However, Whelan, a former Leeds player and lifelong fan, feels it is the player’s representative who is angling for the transfer.
