Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster will sign for Sheffield United on Friday after completing the finer details of his move away from Anfield.
What’s more, Liverpool have a buy-back clause guaranteed for three years as well as a 15 per cent sell-on clause.
Brewster travelled to South Yorkshire on Thursday night to begin medical tests. He will complete those tests on Friday morning, with the deal to go through later in the day.
However it is unclear at this stage if the forward will be available for Sunday’s clash with Arsenal. As per Premier League rules, clubs must register new signings by 12pm on Fridays.
There was firm interest from Crystal Palace and Aston Villa but the Blades have won the race for Brewster.
United boss Chris Wilder has made no secret of his desire to sign another goalscorer. Indeed his team are yet to score a goal in the Premier League this season.
Brewster will provide strong competition for Oli McBurnie, Oliver Burke, Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick.
Brewster’s Liverpool journey comes to an end
Liverpool and boss Jurgen Klopp had earmarked Brewster as a special rising talent within the Anfield ranks.
He moved to Merseyside from Chelsea’s youth system in 2015 and has progressed rapidly since then. However he did not make his professional debut for the Reds until September 2019 in a Carabao Cup match.
He made two further first-team outings for Klopp last season before moving to Swansea on loan in January.
Brewster’s stock rose significantly in South Wales, where he scored 11 goals in 22 games to lead Steve Cooper’s side into the Championship play-offs.
However, with Diogo Jota’s recent £41million arrival from Wolves, further chances at Anfield looked bleak.
