Liverpool could allow up to six players to go through the Anfield exit door following the summer arrivals of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota.

Thiago has joined up for an initial £20m from Bayern Munich and has been given the No.6 shirt.

And the Reds are expected to announce the £41m capture of Jota from Wolves imminently. Again, a well-struck deal means they will initially pay just £4m up front.

However, those two deals bump Liverpool’s summer spending up considerably.

Previously they’d been quiet on the transfer front, with just £11.5m paid out for left-back Kostas Tsimikas. The Greek will be an understudy to Andy Robertson.

Some of the Jota payment will be offset by selling Ki-Jana Hoever to Wolves for a fee rising to £13.5m.

The Reds need to balance the books further though following the adverse impact of COVID-19.

And The Athletic claims that five more players will leave and possibly six.

Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic could reap the biggest transfer fees. Both are valued at around £20m and Liverpool won’t want to let them go on the cheap.

The Merseysiders also want to offload defenders Nat Phillips and Yasser Larouci along with out-of-favour goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Brewster could be moved on following Jota arrival

Speculation also continues that Rhian Brewster could increase the Anfield exodus to six.

The young striker had a successful loan spell at Swansea last season and has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs.

Sheffield United are understood to have made Brewster their main target. The Blades were in for Ollie Watkins but were beaten to the punch by Aston Villa.

Crystal Palace are also believed to be showing strong interest. Leeds, Newcastle and Burnley are other possible suitors.

Liverpool will consider both permanent and loan offers for Brewster whose first-team chances look to have diminished with the arrival of Jota.
