Manchester United have concerns about the development of Mason Greenwood, according to a report.
Greenwood is one of the most promising youngsters to emerge from United’s academy in recent years. He scored 10 goals in his first full season in the Premier League in 2019-20.
However, his blossoming career has started to show its first signs of going off course recently. For example, in September, he was sent home from the England squad along with Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden for breaching coronavirus protocols.
Foden has since earned a re-call to the England setup for the forthcoming international break. However, Gareth Southgate did not call Greenwood up once again.
He has also been overlooked at club level recently. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left him out of their squad to face Everton at the weekend due to him not feeling well.

A report from The Athletic suggests there may be a deeper issue behind his absence.
It is claimed that United are concerned about Greenwood’s sleeping patterns. There is the suggestion that he is becoming “lethargic” in training as a result.
That could have been the real reason behind his absence against Everton, and also explains why he was feeling unwell.
Cavani to help Greenwood mature?
Like any talented player, Greenwood will only fulfil his potential with the right commitment. While Solskjaer continues to back him publicly, the report claims United feel this is an area in which he needs to improve.
They point to the example of how Cristiano Ronaldo worked at his talent during his time at Old Trafford to become the player he is today. However, Greenwood is currently struggling to “understand the process”.
United hope the experience they brought in with Edinson Cavani can help point the 19-year-old in the right direction to get things back on track.
However, for the time being, they have put their plans to give Greenwood an improved contract on hold.
