Manchester United are paving the way for the departure of Paul Pogba and have set a dramatically-reduced price tag on the player, claim reports.

Pogba’s season has started off badly, with the 27-year-old yet to score or assist in six Premier League appearances.

The France star has netted in the EFL Cup and grabbed a couple of assists in the Champions League. But like United, his form has been well below par in the Premier League.

As per Don Balon they report that Pogba is “already on a downward trajectory” and that United are prepared to accept a cut-price fee for him.

The Spanish source say that with Pogba out of contract in 2022 his value is dropping quickly. They claim United will be hoping to offload Pogba next summer before he will be allowed to leave for free.

With that in mind, €60m is the price that United will accept for the midfielder – a figure Don Balon claim is “laughable”.

Manchester Evening News reporter Samuel Luckhurst states that United’s move for Donny Van de Beek has already placed Pogba’s future in doubt.

United exercised their option to extend Pogba’s deal until 2022 recently, but it’s believed they are preparing to sell the former Juventus man next summer.

Pogba was benched on Wednesday night with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opting to use Van de Beek in a deeper role with Bruno Fernandes as a no.10.

Juve care for Pogba

And the suggestion is that those two could form the spine of United’s team in the future.

Meanwhile, one possible destination for Pogba could be a return to Juve.

Pogba himself opened the door for a move to Real Madrid in the last international break, but his old club Juve remain keen.

While there is little love for Pogba in Manchester at the moment, Juventus director Fabio Paratici has stated that everyone in Turin cares deeply about the France international.

“Right now, Pogba is a Manchester United player and it is far too early to think about future transfer targets,” the director told Sky Sport Italia. “We all care for Pogba here, one of many ex-players who gave Juve so much, but it’s too early to talk about future objectives.

“We are concentrated on constructing this team for this season, that is where our focus lies.”
