Paris Saint Germain’s pursuit of Lionel Messi could play a pivotal role in whether Manchester United are able to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus.
The Red Devils are still looking for the right formula under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It has been one step forward and two back but they are currently on a four-game Premier League winning run.
However, there is no doubt that the Old Trafford giants need to strengthen and Dybala has been linked in the past.
United showed an interest in the 27-year-old during the summer of 2019 but no deal materialised. However, they may be about to look again, according to AS, depending on what happens elsewhere.
The Spanish paper are suggesting that Paris Saint Germain are trying to lure Messi to the Parc des Princes. That comes after Neymar expressed a desire to link up with the Argentinian superstar once again.
Whether or not that transfer will ever happens is open to debate and the Parisians have a back-up plan. It seems as though they want Dybala if his compatriot stays put at the Nou Camp.
That may mean a straight fight between the Premier League giants and Thomas Tuchel’s side for the South American.
Dybala has been with the Old Lady since leaving Palermo in the summer of 2015. He has enjoyed incredible success, winning five straight Italian top-flight titles while lifting the Coppa Italia three times.
The forward was also part of the Juve side that lost to Real Madrid in the 2016-17 Champions League final. However, his star has been on the wane this term under Andrea Pirlo, with only four league starts and no goals.
Reports claim he is plotting a route out of Turin for a club that will guarantee him regular playing time. AS go on to say that Manchester United have been in touch with Dybala’s representatives to start the ball rolling.
Another Argentine star on the horizon
Dybala may become a target but Thiago Almada seems very much on the United radar already. Currently on the books of Argentina club Velez Sarsfield, the 19-year-old has been turning heads with his assured displays.
The youngster has scored nine golas from 43 top-flight outings and other clubs have shown an interest.
Leeds United were linked due to the connection with Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa. Arsenal have also been mentioned as possible suitors but Todo Fichajes are adamant that United are frontrunners for his signature.
