Former Netherlands midfielder Clarence Seedorf says that Virgil van Dijk is showing a desire to return to action “stronger than before”.

Seedorf has worked with his fellow countryman as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury.

Van Dijk ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in October and it remains unclear when he will return. But the 29-year-old has posted several videos on social media recently to document his progress.

Indeed, his latest post showed him on an exercise bike, while he has also shown himself testing the resistance in his knee.

But Dutch legend Seedorf joined Van Dijk for a session and took to Instagram to report the defender’s progress.

“I joined the captain Virgil van Dijk for some training today,” he said.

“Happy to see his determination and hard work to be back on the pitch stronger than before!

As such, defensive midfielder Fabinho remains the club’s makeshift veteran in defence. Fringe players Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams have had to step in alongside him.

Pundit Peter Crouch, though, was not impressed by Salah’s display.
