Manchester United have reportedly made a fresh bid for Jadon Sancho that tops €100million and promises Borussia Dortmund a new payment plan for the winger’s exit.
United are actively seeking a new wide man this transfer window, with Sancho their top target.
The Red Devils have already agreed personal terms, with the transfer fee the overriding issue. Dortmund will not sell for less than €120million (£108million), a price United deem unrealistic.
The Old Trafford club reportedly submitted a bid worth up to £91.3million on Tuesday, which the German giants swiftly rejected.
According to transfer source Ian McGarry however, there has since been renewed movement from United.
“We can tell you that two things have moved in terms of where we were when we last reported earlier this week,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.
“Most importantly is that Manchester United have proposed a different fee structure for Sancho and that is that they are now offering a guaranteed €95m and that would be a payment plan of €19m per year over the five years of the proposed contract, plus €15m in variables, which would take it obviously to €110m (£99.5million).
“In doing so, they’ve simplified the variables with regards to achievements which need to be marked.”
Reports of a new bid come amid claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to sell one of his current stars in order to fund Sancho’s arrival.
Sancho rumours continue to swirl
Sancho missed Wednesday’s German Super Cup clash with what Dortmund described as a respiratory infection – although he later tested negative for Covid-19.
McGarry though offered his viewpoint, hinting that it could be a “coincidence” amid the speculation over his future.
“Sancho himself, we understand, still remains very much committed to leaving Dortmund, as we’ve reported consistently over the last few weeks and months.
“I’m not going to say there’s no smoke without fire but it’s a huge coincidence that he got struck down by this illness at a time so crucial in the market, and at a time where United have finally been a little bit less obdurate in terms of the way that they’re willing to structure the transfer fee and the way that it’s paid.”
Previous reports claim Sancho has urged his agent to wrap up his move to Old Trafford.
