Chelsea was looking to take all three points as they played away to current Premier League champions, Liverpool at Anfield. Chelsea dominated most of the possession in the first 30 minutes but that wasn’t enough to keep the champions out of their post as Liverpool found the back of the net in the twenty-third minute courtesy of an outside shot by former Leipzig man, Naby Keita.
Liverpool went two goals clear when Trent Alexander-Arnold curled in a free kick to double their advantage. The Reds dominated the possession for the remaining part of the first half; Georginio Wijnaldum volleyed the ball into the back of the net to further increase the damage on Chelsea.
Frank Lampard’s side pulled one back in the third minute of additional time as, Olivier Giroud pounced on a loose ball to find the back of the net. The first half came to the end with Liverpool coming out with the advantage.
In the fiftieth minute, Mohammed Salah missed a 1 on 1 chance to give Liverpool their fourth goal of the match. Five minutes later, Roberto Firminho was on target as he put in a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold to give, the Reds their fourth of the match.
Tammy Abraham was on target, as he gave Chelsea their second of the game courtesy of a Christian Pulisic assist. The second half was totally dominated by Liverpool, as they created the most opportunity and dominated the most possession. Chelsea made an attempt at a comeback, as provider Christian Pulisic was on the receiving end, as he found the back of the net to make it three for the Blues.
Scoring came to a close in the eighty-fourth minute, as former Arsenal and English midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain finished off a cross from Andrew Robertson.
The result sees Chelsea loose the opportunity to secure a spot in the Champions League, and would have to wait for the final day of the season to know their fate. Liverpool have already lost out on their chance to secure a total of 100 points to break the record set by former champions, Manchester City but hope to end the season on a high.Click here to leave a comment
