Former Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United heroes are among the top five players to score the most Premier League goals after turning 30.

While we all like to get excited about a young upstart taking the lead by storm, there’s something even more admirable about an old-timer that has been around the block enjoying an Indian summer.

We’ve taken at look at the five players with the most Premier League goals once they have turned the wrong – or should that be right? – side of 30.

Jamie Vardy – 77 goals

He is 33, needs 17 more goals to break this particular record and is playing pretty much as well as he’s ever played before.

We’re not going to back against him ending his career top of this list.

Teddy Sheringham – 77 goals

A treble winner with Manchester United at 33, PFA and FWA Player of the Year at 35 and the Premier League’s oldest ever goalscorer at the age of 40, 22 years after scoring his first ever professional goal.

You’re only as old as you think you are, and Sheringham is the proof.

Frank Lampard – 82 goals

You don’t see Steven Gerrard on this list, do you? *ducks for cover*

Alan Shearer – 84 goals

Would Shearer’s latter years have been even more productive had he not suffered those earlier serious injuries, or did that time away from the pitch extend his career?

Either way, scoring in a 4-1 victory in the Tyne-Wear Derby was a fitting way to bow out, as the man himself said: “To go out in Sunderland, score and get the best result in 50 years wasn’t a bad way to go.”

Ian Wright – 93 goals

Having turned pro three months before his 22nd birthday and not made his top-flight debut until the age of 26, Wright is often held up as an example of why you should never give up on your dreams.

We’d love to agree with that sentiment, but it’s easy to say when you’re as good f*cking brilliant at football as Wright.
