Reports in the Italian media claim West Ham United have tabled a bid for Napoli’s out-of-favour striker Arkadiusz Milik.
Milik, 26, has not kicked a ball in anger this season after being frozen out by Napoli. The Poland international will be out of contract in the summer.
He refused the option to extend his deal and was left out of the Serie A and Europa League squads.
The Hammers are in need of a new hitman and have been linked with many names. But the report states the Londoners have offered €7m for the former Ajax man, according to Calico Napoli 24.
If they are successful then David Moyes will be getting a versatile player who can fulfil many roles. Comfortable up front, he can also operate as a second striker or winger with pace and power.
Having started his career with Polish club Gornik Zabrze, he then joined Bayer Leverkusen in December 2012. However, he failed to shine and was loaned to FC Augsburg and then Ajax.
Milik then penned permanent terms in Amsterdam 2015 but left for Naples the following summer. He scored 47 goals from 75 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch giants.
His time in Italy has been blighted by injury. The man from Tychy suffered two cruciate ligament injuries that sidelined him for lengthy spells.
When fit, he managed to bag 48 goals from 122 outings before falling out of favour. It seems as though he has kicked his last ball for I Partenopei and the London Stadium could be next.
Haller replacement a priority for Moyes
Moyes hinted he could follow Manchester City’s lead and play without a striker. However, the fact they are being linked with so many forwards means that is unlikely.
Sebastien Haller left for Ajax last week, leaving Michail Antonio as the only recognised senior striker at the London Stadium.
Spezia hitman M’Bala Nzola and Reims striker Boulaye Dia have also been mentioned as possible targets this month. But it seems as though the East End outfit want Milik, if the report of a bid is true.
They are not the only interested club, with Ligue 1 outfit Marseille and Tottenham also said to be keen. The fact he has not played a club game snice August will be concerning but his price tag looks good value.
His last appearance was as a 74th-minute substitute as Poland lost 2-0 to Italy on November 15.
